Soon you’ll find here a complete post about the city of Lille, it will be written in French, English and Spanish.
I really advice you to visit it as you’re staying in Paris, with high speed train, in less of one hour you’ll reach this rich city with a specific architecture. Staying one or two days may be a very good choice to discover other cities in France.
It’s high time that I often offer me a quick nice trip to the city of Lille in North of France.
The city is very close to Paris by high speed train TGV, and mostly less than one hour of travel. Meanwhile, I can really appreciate and feel the high speed and the comfort of this train.
Going to Lille
It’s very easy to reach Lille from Paris. From “Gare du Nord” station, but also from the Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle (CDG) train’s station.
Organizing its trip is even easier due to the fact that Lille gets two TGV stations very close one from the other, so that it gives you more possibilities to schedule your trips by train. Indeed, you’ll find Lille-Flandres (a terminus train station) and Lille-Europe train station, both separated by less than 1km.
Choosing Lille-Flandres will drive you onto the city centre. Arriving at Lille-Europe is not so terrible, you’ll just have to walk 10minutes.
That why Lille is a good choice for people who do not spend many time in France and want to see an other city with a minimum of organization.
Moreover you’ll find train ticket starting from 20€.
Where to sleep
I tested some hotels there from High class to medium one.
The Novotel Lille Centre Gares is a very nice and comfortable hotel with sport room. Unfortunately it is just close the Lille-Flandres train station and you’ll need to cross some hobo’s quarters.
The Mercure XXXXX is very close to a nice street plenty of restaurants and bars, pubs. The other good point is that you won’t have the noise pollution. The bad point is that you’ll have to walk quite a lot on pavement with your luggages from trains stations.
The Kyriad has many good points, as it is very close to the stations, and inside the city centre. Cheaper than the others also. But its rooms may appear smallest.
Where to eat
I tested a lot of restaurants in Lille, I’ll advice you some of them.
